Four Augusta University nursing programs hold accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE): the BSN, the MSN, the DNP and the post-graduate NP certificates, each reaffirmed on March 13, 2024 for a term ending December 31, 2034. Nurse Anesthesia answers to the Council on Accreditation (COA), the accreditor for anesthesia programs, which continued its accreditation in 2023 and reviews it next in October 2033.

CCNE accreditation, program by program

CCNE's directory lists four Augusta University nursing programs, and every one shares the same most recent action, term end and next visit. The College of Nursing's About page describes the same coverage, naming its bachelor's, master's, doctoral practice and certificate programs as CCNE accredited.

The DNP listing is for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program as a whole, which Augusta University runs as seven tracks for post-BSN and post-master's students, the four NP concentrations among them. The certificate listing covers the post-graduate APRN certificates, now AGACNP and PMHNP. History adds context: Augusta University established Georgia's first DNP in 2005, and its About page traces a nationally accredited baccalaureate program back to 1943.

Nurse Anesthesia and the COA

Nurse anesthesia programs answer to a second accreditor, whose full name is the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. COA's list of accredited programs shows the Augusta University Nurse Anesthesia Program in Augusta, Georgia with a last review on October 11, 2023, a decision of Continued Accreditation, and a next review on October 11, 2033.

The program moved to the doctoral level in 2016, when the DNP Nurse Anesthesia program replaced the earlier CRNA master's. Its clinical training runs at the program's own sites, which the program page counts at over 40 in four states (Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee), with students working alongside CRNAs and anesthesiologists. Georgia Board of Nursing approval

State approval is a separate question from national accreditation. The Georgia Board of Nursing approves and regulates prelicensure programs only, and Augusta University states that both its BSN and its MSN Clinical Nurse Leader programs hold that approval.

The Board states that post-licensure programs, APRN programs included, fall outside its approval and regulation. For the DNP tracks and certificates, then, national accreditation through CCNE is the formal quality check, while the Board reaches NP students through licensure: anyone doing clinical hours in Georgia needs a Georgia or multistate RN license, and APRN clinical teaching there has to be done by a nurse the Board has authorized as an APRN. Augusta University publishes certification results on several program pages. The figures below are its own statements, quoted in short form; none gives a cohort size or the years covered beyond the wording shown.

The two anesthesia figures conflict. The program page gives an 86% first-attempt rate, and the catalog gives more than 90%; both agree on a 100% overall pass rate. Neither names the graduating year, so ask the program which cohort each number describes before you compare it with anything else. The certification exams guide matches each NP track to its boards.

Dates that do not line up, and which to rely on

Augusta University's pages are updated on different schedules, so a few accreditation details disagree. None of them changes a program's status, but they are worth knowing if you are checking the record yourself.

The College of Nursing's About page still shows a COA date of 12/31/2022 for Nurse Anesthesia, while COA's own list shows the 2023 review and a next review in 2033.
The same About page shows 12/31/2024 beside the Georgia Board of Nursing approval; the Board's current approval dates should be confirmed with the Board.
The About page's certificate accreditation line still names Family Nurse Practitioner and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certificates, but the Graduate School and certificates pages now offer only AGACNP and PMHNP.
The DNP program page adds a licensure disclosure: it satisfies first-time licensure requirements across the states and territories, with Maryland the one place where some concentrations may need a further look.

When pages disagree, the accreditors' own directories are the current record for accreditation, and the program pages are the current record for what is offered.

What accreditation means for your clinicals and boards

For an NP student, accreditation is mostly invisible until the end. National certification boards set their own eligibility rules and look at the program you completed, so read your board's eligibility page well before your final spring. Clinical sites, for their part, want a signed school affiliation agreement and a complete compliance file before anything else, according to the health system pages we reviewed.

Is Augusta University's DNP program accredited?

Yes. The DNP has held CCNE accreditation since March 25, 2009; the latest action came on March 13, 2024, and the current term ends December 31, 2034. The listing names the DNP program as a whole, and the FNP, AGACNP, PNP and PMHNP concentrations are tracks within it.

When is Augusta University's next CCNE visit?

All four programs, from the BSN to the certificates, are due their next CCNE site visit in spring 2034, per the accreditor's directory. Between visits, that directory is the place to confirm current status, since it records each program's latest action and the date its term ends.

Are Augusta University's post-graduate NP certificates accredited?

Yes. CCNE has accredited Augusta University's post-graduate APRN certificate program since April 16, 2014, with its latest action on March 13, 2024. The certificates currently offered are AGACNP and PMHNP, even though one Augusta University page still lists FNP and PNP certificates.

Does Augusta University publish an FNP board pass rate?

Not on the FNP program page. The AGACNP and PNP pages each report a 100% pass rate for four of the last five years, and the PMHNP page reports 100% for the last five years. For FNP, ask the program directly what its recent graduates achieved.

Can I get licensed outside Georgia after Augusta University's DNP?

The DNP program page says the program meets first-license requirements in every state and territory apart from Maryland, where certain concentrations could need more review and approval. Each state board still rules on your own application, so confirm with the licensing board in the state where you want to work.
