Augusta University trains nurse practitioners only at the doctoral level: four DNP concentrations, in family, adult-gerontology acute care, pediatric primary care and psychiatric mental health, plus post-graduate certificates in acute care and psychiatric mental health. The College of Nursing also runs a post-master's DNP, nurse anesthesia, the Clinical Nurse Leader master's and the BSN. Each has a guide below.

Four DNP tracks built the same way

Every nurse practitioner concentration follows one pattern: three practice courses in its population, then NURS 9192, the final practicum the tracks share, for 840 direct clinical hours, with 360 DNP residency hours on top. What changes is the patient: adults, children and older adults for FNP; acute and critical care for AGACNP; children in primary care for PNP; psychiatric care with group work for PMHNP.

Questions Augusta University students ask

Does Augusta University offer an MSN nurse practitioner track?

No. Its nurse practitioner concentrations are DNP only, entered after a BSN, in FNP, AGACNP, PNP and PMHNP. Its only MSN is the Clinical Nurse Leader, a prelicensure program.

Which Augusta University post-graduate certificates are open?

The College of Nursing currently lists post-graduate certificates in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care and Psychiatric Mental Health, both starting in spring. FNP and PNP certificates do not appear in the current listings.

How long do Augusta University's DNP NP tracks take?

Three years full time or four years part time, with a fall start, per the program plans. The clinical courses run from the spring of the second year to the spring of the third on the full-time plan.

Is there any campus time in the DNP NP tracks?

Yes. FNP, AGACNP and PNP students attend MEGAI, a multi-day campus intensive. The MEGAI guide covers what is published about it.
